Spring dead spot (SDS) is a persistent and destructive disease of bermudagrass in Cumming and Dawsonville Georgia. The disease is particularly prevalent and damaging in north Georgia. SDS can be observed throughout the state after harsh winters and in areas where bermudagrass has been exposed to freezing temperatures for extended periods of time.
Timing, selection and application of fungicides are important for preventative management of SDS. Research has shown that one application of fungicide in the fall when soil temperatures are between 60° and 80° F provides the best control of SDS.

Due to the current weather conditions, lawns are very susceptible to developing a fungus.
Brown Patch and Dollar Spot are two types of diseases that develop due to one or several factors: high temperatures, extensive wetness on the lawn, drought like conditions or irregular mowing with dull blades.
We attempt to combat the disease by regular mowing with sharp blades, watering during the early morning hours to reduce the amount of time the lawn is wet and proper fertilization.
If a lawn develops a fungus, we recommend a fungicide treatment to rid the lawn of the disease. The application has a residual of 18-22 days. This is normally enough time to rid the lawn of the disease, but if weather conditions continue to be favorable, additional applications may be necessary.
Sometimes no matter how well you protect yourself, you get sick. The same goes for your landscape. It’s true your turf and plants can contract diseases too! Disease and fungus develop based on environmental conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extended periods with or without rain, etc.). Even if all precautions are taken (regular mowing with sharp blades, irrigating early morning, proper fertilizing, etc.), disease can occur. Bennett Landscape has fungicide application to rid your landscape of disease and fungus.
Landscaping can add between 7% and 15% to a home\'s value. Landscaping can bring a recovery value of 100% to 200% at selling time. In comparison, kitchen remodeling brings a 75% to 125% recovery rate, bathroom remodeling beings a 20% to 50% recovery rate, and the addition of a swimming pool brings a 20% to 50% recovery rate.
